Instagram introduces new ways of monetization. The first advertisements will be shown in IGTV videos from June. There is a kind of donation button for live videos.
Influencers now have more ways to make money through Instagram. From June there will be advertisements on IGTV, as Instagram reports . 55 percent of the proceeds will go to the creators, as Instagram COO Justin Osofsky told The Verge. In future, users should be able to pay directly for live videos.
Monetization Should Strengthen IGTV
For the time being, Instagram is working with 200 selected English-speaking influencers and advertising partners. Gradually, there should be more. In this first phase, Instagram primarily wants to gain experience.

The ads should appear when users click on the preview of an IGTV video in their feed. They should be a maximum of 15 seconds long. Over the course of the year, Instagram also plans to test the option to skip the ad.
Create a Secure Advertising Space
“We want to support the involvement of the authors in IGTV by sharing the advertising revenue with them,” writes Instagram. IGTV is to become an “effective and brand-safe advertising space”.
Influencers who want to display ads in their videos have to sign special guidelines beforehand, writes The Verge. For example, unlike otherwise, they may not swear in their videos.
Badges Enable Donations for Live Videos
Instagram is also introducing a way to support influencers directly. If you watch a live video, you can pay the creators with one click using so-called badges. A small symbol appears next to the user name that invites you to buy the badges.

The badges are intended to offer the creators of such videos a direct opportunity to earn money. Here, too, Instagram starts with a test phase and a limited group in June.
