Facebook now prioritizes original reports of a NEWS reporting in the news feed. In order to determine those, one takes an analysis by looking at which is the most frequently cited source. The best example of why this is a good idea is already shown in the child’s play “Stille Post”: News is often changed only minimally or put in a different light based on the original report.
You still want to handle posts that come from friends. As soon as news from various sources is communicated by friends, the “original News” should be given priority. However, other ranking criteria should not be neglected:
Original news and coverage may experience increased distribution as a result of these changes, but it is important to remember that News Feed uses a variety of ranking signals to prioritize content.
For the time being, Facebook only wants to start with English-language news, but in the future, it will also expand to other languages.
In the future, news content that does not contain transparent information about the author and the editorial staff should be given less priority. Here you would like to check whether editors are mentioned by name (with first and last name) on the website. Facebook expects – according to its own statements – fewer advertising articles and clickbait.
