iOS 14 brings a lot of innovations but also revises existing iOS apps. Similarly, a number of new features are added to the Photos app. These are the top five improvements.
5 innovations in the Photos app
During WWDC 2020, Apple announced all kinds of innovations. The Photos app was not discussed in detail, but it does bring some interesting innovations. We list new functions for you.
Filter and sort
Do you ever look for a specific photo in your Photos app? Then you know that it can often take a long time. You no longer know exactly when the photo was taken or where it is. Apple has found a solution to this.
In iOS 14 it is possible to filter your collection of photos. That way you can find a photo more easily, provided you know something about it, of course, like when you edited it. You can filter the photos into favorites, edited photos, videos, and all photos. Moreover, you can sort all your albums from new to old, or vice versa. This also applies to your shared albums.

Smoother functions
Apple not only added features, but it also improves existing features. For example, in iOS 14 Apple ensures better playback of Live Photos. The automatic playback of the Live Photos could sometimes falter. Photos are taken in iOS 14 play smoother and more stable. This also applies if you view photos by year, month or day.
Zooming in and out in Photos is also smoother in iOS 14. Zooming out makes the overview of the photos smaller, so you can see more photos at a glance. If you zoom in, you will see the photos in more detail, but you will see less on the screen. The zoom works more smoothly and is available in Albums, Favorites, Media Types, Shared Albums, and more.

Looking back
The Photos app will show you even more relevant memories in the form of photos and videos in iOS 14. When you play a video of different memories in a row, videos are also played more stably.
In addition, Apple is adding more tracks that automatically adjust to the length of the look-back video. Also, switching between horizontally and vertically shot photos is made smoother in iOS 14.
Photo picker redesign
Do you want to share a photo in a specific app? Then that becomes a lot easier in iOS 14. Apple adjusts the interface for the photo picker in apps such as Messages, Mail, and Safari, and other external apps.
In an app, you can use the same smart search function that you also find in the Photos app itself. That way you will quickly find the photo you want to share. You can also quickly and easily select multiple photos.

Add caption
Finally, Apple adds a very useful feature that many users have long been waiting for. In iOS 14 it is possible to add a caption to your photos. This has been possible in the Photos app on your Mac for some time, but this was not possible on iPhone before.
Sync the captions associated with the associated photos across all devices, provided you have the iCloud Photo Library turned on, of course. If you add captions, your photos are instantly a lot easier to find with the search function on any device.
This also makes the app a lot more accessible for people with disabilities: the added caption reads to people with a visual impairment that can be seen in the photo.
