Switching from iOS to Android often involves one major problem for many: transferring chat history. WhatsApp is now working on the ability to sync this data between both platforms.
Sync WhatsApp
There are a number of tools and workarounds that claim to transfer your chats from iOS to Android and vice versa. Yet the reality is often different and not everyone entrusts their WhatsApp backups to these types of tools. WaBetaInfo now announces that WhatsApp is working on the possibility to use your conversations on both platforms.
According to the source, it is a big job for WhatsApp to make this possible. Until now, WhatsApp only works on one device, although support for using one phone number on different phones is on the way. Once this feature is ready, the use of your chats on iOS and Android can also be implemented.
We know that WhatsApp is working on the link with four devices. So you will soon be able to synchronize your conversation history between four devices and use them simultaneously.
Because there is sometimes a lot of data to sync, WhatsApp asks you to do this via an active WiFi connection. Otherwise, it could demand too much from your data bundle.
Once WhatsApp has securely copied the chat history to the second device, it will be possible to use your account on that device. Keep in mind that every message will be delivered to all your paired and synchronized devices, so those are extra notifications. When you use or remove a device, your encryption key also changes.
The feature is still under development and it is not known when we can expect this chat sync in WhatsApp.
