WhatsApp is working on a new way to free up storage by deleting conversations or media in a targeted way. The company is still working on the position behind the scenes.
WhatsApp storage management
Those who use WhatsApp intensively with friends and family will probably see how the app takes up a significant part of the storage on your phone. That’s because of all the photos, gifs, and videos that we exchange through the messaging service. WhatsApp will now make it easier to detect unwanted media or conversations via a new version of the ‘Used storage’ screen, WABetaInfo reports
The new interface where WhatsApp works goes a lot further. First, you can see from a bar how much storage WhatsApp media uses in total compared to the total storage of your phone.
In addition, you see the forwarded images, and WhatsApp first shows the largest files. you can then tap any file to delete it. Finally, you will see a listing of your conversations in order of the amount of space they take up.
If you currently go to WhatsApp from the settings and tap on ‘Data and storage user’ and then on ‘Used storage’, you will only see the conversations that take up the most space. You only have the option to delete photos and any text messages. For example, a more effective way to free up space right away is by using the Google Files cleaning tools.
Availability
It is not yet known when we will welcome storage management tools. The feature is not yet available in WhatsApp or the beta version. The developers may combine the introduction of the feature with another novelty already in development for the iOS app. You can delete all conversations with the exception of your favorites.
