One of the favorite genres of people who consume Netflix is horror. The horror genre lives an authentic golden age in which there are proposals that will leave more than one with nightmares for a few days. Netflix has a huge catalog, both current and more classic that offers countless movies to terrify yourself, with your partner, family, or friends, and enjoy good and varied content.
Best Horror Movies on Netflix 2020

The Witch
You’re not prepared for The Witch (or rather ‘The VVitch’), a brutal horror movie that has been on Netflix since March. In this terrorizing mystery, a Christian family slowly turns to itself in 1630 when it thinks a witch has cursed them. The setting, on the edge of a large New England forest, makes it all the more ominous. * Bibber *.

Child’s Play
Want to play? Let’s get straight to the point: this version of the iconic murder doll Chucky, released last year, has nothing to do with director Don Mancini’s original (who also made the later, somewhat lesser parts). Instead, we get a more modern version with a Chucky digitally in touch with his victim’s house. Star Wars hero Mark Hamill genuinely voices Chucky’s voice, which is why Child’s Play is one of the best horror movies on Netflix.

Bird Box
No horror movie on Netflix managed to unleash as much as Bird Box did in late 2018. In this record-breaking production, we follow Malorie (Sandra Bullock), a woman who tries to stay out of the hands of mysterious suicide-causing creatures. When you look them in the eye, a terrible death follows. Blindfold on and go!

A Quiet Place
No 2018 horror movie has made as much of an impression as A Quiet Place. This is of course mainly due to the interesting concept. If you make even one small noise, relentless monsters will come at you. We follow the Abbott family, consisting of Mommy Evelyn (Emily Blunt), Dad Lee (John Krasinski), their deaf daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds), and baby son Marcus (Noah Jupe).
They are trying to survive in this brutal world and that is easier said than done. Krasinski directed the film and fortunately also does so for part 2. A Quiet Place is definitely one of the best horror movies on Netflix.
Midsommar
Midsommar takes pure fear and madness on Netflix to a higher level. This movie is really not for delicate souls. We follow traumatized Dani (Florence Pugh) who travels to Sweden with her boyfriend and a couple of his mates for some vague midsummer festival. It never gets dark and the residents of the party village turn out to be first-class and necks. Hold on: this scary, bizarre, and maddening film is not going to be released anytime soon.
Gerald’s Game
This Stephen King movie (one of the better on Netflix) scares you into doing something SM-esque again. Why? Gerald and his wife Jessie are looking forward to an adventure. He takes the handcuffs, fastens her to the bed and… has a heart attack. There lies Jessie then; tied up in a secluded cottage. She has nowhere to go. Gerald’s Game drives you crazy.
The Cabin in the Woods
Everything you say about this Netflix horror movie can ruin it. At first sight, The Cabin in the Woods looks like a typical American horror film. Including student groups with types like ‘the nerd’, ‘the pretty girl’ and ‘the muscular macho man’, you know it. However, this film is so different. How? We don’t say. You just have to see this!
Annihilation
Is this real horror? Netflix says yes and we understand why. In sci-fi top Annihilation, biologist Lena (Natalie Portman) and a team of specialists investigate a mysterious area where her husband became deathly ill. This place completely turns the laws of nature upside down. When the team comes face-to-face with a zombie bear, you immediately understand why the label ‘horror’ fits perfectly here.
Hereditary
Director Ari Aster came last year with Midsommar (an outright sensation), and luckily it is also on Netflix. His previous horror film also. Hereditary is a terrifying experience that will blow you off your seat time and time again. It all starts with the death of ‘grandma’. After this, the lives of daughter Anni (Toni Collette) and her own family are never the same again. When her daughter Charlie (Milly Shapiro) also starts showing broken behavior, all hell breaks loose.
The Conjuring
The beginning of this mega horror franchise can not be missed on the list of best horror movies on Netflix. In The Conjuring, we meet paranormal researchers Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga). Their first case is still rocking solid when it comes to iconic, scary scenes and jump scares that still surprise us – even after watching several times. The next movie in this franchise?
