Netflix has gained 26 million subscribers in the past six months. That is an almost as big increase as in all of 2019 when 28 million paying customers were added.
That can be read in the most recent quarterly figures of the streaming service. The relatively large growth in the number of new subscribers is partly due to the corona crisis. Due to the many restrictions in public life, people worldwide spent more time indoors than usual. The perfect place to binge movies and series. The total number of subscribers is now at 192.95 million.

The Netflix Original movies that have been streaming most often in the past quarter include Da 5 Bloods, Extraction and The Wrong Missy. Series produced outside America are also doing well. The Spanish crime series La Casa de Papel in particular is in great demand worldwide. And the German sci-thriller Dark has also found its way to the international audience.
Also adverse consequences
Netflix is doing so well, although the question is how long this will remain so. The company itself expects growth to be less strong in the second half of the year. In addition, many productions were delayed by the coronavirus, so that no new material could be filmed for months. As a result, less news is expected to appear on Netflix in the first half of next year.
