Waze announced some new features for its navigation app at an event. The navigation app will become more personal by giving suggestions and notifications.
Waze lane guidance
Navigation app Waze announced the lane designations in August and now the company comes with even more new features. The gif below shows exactly how this works in the app.
Waze travel suggestions
Waze is also working on the Travel Suggestions feature, which will be rolling out next month. These travel suggestions show recommendations based on previous trips you have taken. Once you start the app, a list of places you may want to visit again will appear, along with an estimated time of arrival for the duration of the trip. The feature should release sometime next month.
Waze traffic reports
Waze is also gearing up to launch traffic alerts next month. This feature alerts you when traffic to your favorite or most visited destinations starts to get bad. So if you often travel to Leeuwarden to visit your mother-in-law, you will receive traffic alerts in advance to let you know that the ride may take a little longer than usual (which can be a good excuse to cancel the visit).
Waze also indicated that it is making improvements to the ETA calculations associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Because there are fewer cars on the road, estimating arrival times has been a bit more difficult. The update must take this into account and adjust the calculations in some areas accordingly.
Finally, Waze is making a few changes to its built-in carpooling service with real-time rides and instant booking, where users can automatically accept ride requests without having to do it manually.
